Unfortunately, we are still paddling around the KFCC pitches and it is not going to be possible to run training tonight or tomorrow night. On a positive note however, the prospects for the weekend are a lot better and there is a chance that we might be able to actually have some cricket.
Let's hope for some better weather soon...
Martin Griffiths
The Cricket Club did their usual job at the May Fayre – standing in the rain, smoke in the eyes, telling people we do not do cheese burgers. Somehow we managed to sell out of most things, bank some money for the Community Association and bank some goodwill for the club. Special thanks go to the West extended family (including Becks Wilson), Dom Cowell (Football referee of some distinction), Chris and Claire Palmer and Pippa Gibbs. Some ungenerous souls did say that the stall was a bit quieter this year (guess who might have been missing), but we will welcome them back next year nevertheless. I am told they know who they are!
Dave Peperell and Simon Gibbs.
As there are no home matches being played this weekend - we'll open the bar from 5pm on Saturday.
Please come along and support your club and watch the FA Cup Final!
As of 9am on Friday 4th May all matches for this coming weekend are confirmed as cancelled except the Saturday 3rd XI match away to Witham.
We'll update the website as soon as possible regarding the 3rd XI match.
Feering May Fayre and KFCC - I am still needing help running the barbecue on Monday 7th May.
If anyone is available to help please contact me - pippagibbs@brinternet.com.
Timing is 2 till 5 but an hour or two help would be much appreciated.
Many thanks - Simon Gibbs
The first day of May has brought another deluge of rain and the club now resembles a duck pond.
There is no training possible today (Wednesday) or first team training on Thursday. At this stage the weekend is still a possibility and we will review again at the end of the week
Many Thanks. Martin Griffiths
We had 30mm last night and I have just inspected the ground with Bryan Page.
There is no way that the ground will be fit for practice either for Weds Evening or Thursday. The chances of playing at the weekend are close to zero unless we get a tropical heatwave between now and Thursday. We will
not be able to start working on the pitches until the surface water has drained off and there are puddles in places I have not seen before.
Bryan is desperate to get a pitch prepared but there is no way we can do it at present. Having cut the outfield down quite well it is now getting long and ragged which is annoying if not downright disastrous.
We will give you all a final decision on Thursday evening but please be prepared for the worst.
Simon Gibbs
