New roller
The Club has acquired another Stothert and Pitt roller to do the rolling on the second square and outfield. It was acquired through the good offices of Lawrence Edwards the pitch adviser and comes from a local club whose ground staff are now being treated to the luxury of a reconditioned Autoroll with hydrostatic drive. Our hard-working team will be getting a bit fitter swinging the handle of the old diesel engine on cold Spring mornings but the machine will do a job for us till we can afford a roller with full stereo and central heating (that is a two cylinder engine between the feet!).
Equipment budget / new changing rooms
We are now putting the finishing touches to our equipment budget for next year and we are including an amount for the materials to fit out the new changing rooms and provide cricketing equipment for next year on the new ground. We will be getting the new ground ready to play on, including building the new changing rooms (making benches for people to rest their weary cricket bags on etc) and putting up pegs to hang the umpires on (in their coats).
Cricket Force - April 3, 4 & 5, 2009
The NatWest CricketForce events will take place over the weekend of 3, 4, 5 April next year. Make sure you support your Club in 2009!
New ground
The new changing facilities have arrived for the second ground. See pictures on home page.

U15 Girls team win the Lady Taverner's Essex cup - Sunday 22nd June
U15 Girls won the lady Taverner's Essex cup by beating Harold Wood, the current National champions.
The team of Kate Felstead, Lyndsey Cowell, Charlie Clark-Parkinson, Rhiannon Griffiths, Hayley Ramsey, Heather Holmes, Zoë Wager, Louise Johnson. Played brilliantly well, with 2 late substitutions due to illness.
Key performances were Louise and Kate Felstead with both bat and ball. The highlight being the caught and bowled by Lyndsey Cowell of Harold Wood's top player which was hit extremely hard. With the bat Kate Felstead's massive six, "Napier" like, which would have been a six on any ground.
The team then headed to Hertfordshire for the South of England finals. One step from Edgbaston where the finals will be held.

CHAIRMAN'S MESSAGE
2007 was another good season for Kelvedon & Feering Cricket Club.
I would like to thank on behalf of the club our external sponsors and Club Vice Presidents who have been very generous in supporting the Club and hope they will be able to continue to support us.
All of our colts teams performed as we have come to expect by either winning, or coming second in every league in which they took part. Our u15 team also managed to make the semi-finals of the Peter Coe cup (a county competition). The adult sides also did us proud by gaining promotion to the 2nd division of the Two Counties League and doing reasonably well in all the other leagues.
However, what marked out 2007 as a special year was the acquisition of the field on the other side of Rye Mill Lane. Since August last year work has progressed steadily to turn a disused field into a second pitch. We are now beginning to see the positive results of all that hard work and hopefully we will at least be able to use the outfield for training later this season, the square will be ready for use next season. Many thanks to all of you who have provided extra pairs of hands to help with the project so far.
All this has not come cheap and as a club we are seriously stretching our finances in order to be able to take this expansion on board. In an attempt to ensure our books are balanced we have launched a '100' Club Lottery - there are still a few numbers left if anyone wishes to join (further details on page ). We are also looking at ways in which we can attract further sponsorship to the club.
There are other ways of raising funds that we would like to explore, for example we would like to sell teas, coffees, soft drinks and sweets at colts training and on colts match evenings. However to do this we need parents to volunteer to help as existing committee members are already giving up a lot of time to ensure all the other necessary things are done to ensure the smooth running of the club. If you feel you are able to help with this please come forward and let us know. Your help will be much appreciated.
We also plan to raise extra funds throughout the coming season and also have a good time in the process. We have a good social calendar organised and I would urge you to support as many of the events as possible (see the back page of the Handbook).
Finally, I would like to wish everyone at the club a very successful and enjoyable season.

100 CLUB
Over the last few seasons the growth of the club, particularly the colts section has outstripped the capacity of our facilities. We now have over two hundred colts regularly attending coaching sessions and playing matches. In 2007 we fielded seven colts and five adult teams on a regular basis as well as hosting an adult 20/20 league. This resulted in over 90 games being played on the ground despite the poor weather! In 2008 we are fielding an additional adult team at weekends and for the first time a Ladies team in the Friday night Colchester District Ladies 20/20 league.
All this will increase the pressures on our facilities. We are in the process of significantly expanding our facilities by establishing a second playing field on the land opposite the main gates to the Club. This will ease the pressure on the main pitch, provide more flexibility for colts coaching at the weekends and allow us to play even more cricket.
As you can imagine it is going to cost a significant amount of money to establish the new playing field. In a second phase we would also like to expand our clubhouse to accommodate the anticipated extra demand. Work on the new playing field is well advanced and we have been very fortunate receive a loan from the ECB to assist us in the project. However the loan needs to be repaid over the next five years and there will be on-going maintenance costs once the ground is up and running.
At the end of 2007 we launched a major fund raising initiative - a new lottery to be known as the 100 Club. Our intention is to find up to one hundred people who are willing to pay £5 a month for a number in a monthly draw with three prizes of £100, £50 and £25. Regrettably not in the same league as the National Lottery so far as prizes go but surely the odds of winning must be better!
You do not need to be a Kelvedon & Feering Cricket Club member to join the 100 Club although new members are always welcome.
The monthly subscription is £5 per number, payable either via a monthly standing order or if you prefer to pay annually a single payment of £60. The first draw is expected to take place in December (monthly payments to be made in advance). All participants will be notified of their number and the results of monthly draws will be displayed in the Clubhouse.
Please support the efforts the Club is making to develop cricket in the Kelvedon and Feering area by joining the 100 Club. If you are interested in doing so please please contact:
